PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT

Resource Software International Ltd. (RSI) Announces tools text messaging for Nortel Networks platforms (Norstar, BCM).

OSHAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA - June 1, 2000 - Resource Software International Ltd. (RSI) announced its latest application, Text Messaging on its tools for Nortel Networks portfolio.  As a Nortel Open Developer, RSI has been leveraging software technology to enhance the features of the Meridian, BCM and Norstar.  Today, the Norstar holds the greatest market share in the North American KTS Market* and BCM is poised for similar growth.  “We believe that our value-added applications will allow Nortel  to further increase its market share by targeting specific vertical markets and complementing its existing feature set” said Rito Salomone, president of RSI.

Traditional features of the tools portfolio include Forced/Verified Account Codes,  Automated Wake-up calls, Set Locking/Unlocking and Enhanced Least Cost Routing.  These features have introduced the Norstar into Professional Environments (Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, Engineers, etc) as well as Hospitality Environments.  RSI also offers seamless integration to their Call Accounting Suite of products.

Text Messaging was provided as a solution to the countless requests from end-users to have the ability to communicate with users while they are off-hook.  Many other Key Systems Manufacturers provide a feature that allows staff to interrupt a call using their voice over an existing call.  While this feature is powerful, the result can be obtrusive and confusing.  RSI believes that this application makes the Norstar a more elegant over-all solution.  Now, while on an important call, an employee can receive a scrolling text message on his/her telephone LCD!  The message can be sent from a single designated user (ie. receptionist) or from multiple users (Client/Server application).

What is CDR?

CDR is an abbreviation for the term Call Detail Recording. It is the data that is submitted by your telephone system to a collection device linked to your call accounting package. The data contains particular information about every telephone call including date, time, duration, digits dialed and trunk line. Often the term SMDR (Station Message Detail Recording is used interchangeably with CDR). The "raw" information is generally interpreted and translated into a database for real time or scheduled processing and reporting.
