Data Storage Buffers

Major advancement in storage media and capacity of computing devices has increased the popularity of Data Storage Software.. The software can be installed on any existing or dated computer with a functional hard drive. Most customers enjoy the benefit of reusing computers, huge storage capacity and relative ease of installation. If the hardware fails, there is no need to return it to the manufacturer. The Data Storage Software can be installed on another available computer.

Buffer boxes enjoyed huge popularity in the 1980s because they were relatively more reliable and far less expensive than their computer counterparts. Once personal computer prices started becoming more affordable and upgrade cycles rendered older systems obsolete for day to day use, [[Data Storage]] software became the norm. However, even today, buffer boxes are a major benefits in specific environments.

Critical mission environments such as hospitality, health care and professional firms require data integrity for their call detail records. It is imperative that there is no data loss. A buffer box can prevent the occurrence of lost data be acting as a bridge between the telephone system and the processor. When the processor loses power or is manually shut down, the buffer box can continue storing and holding the data until the processor is powered on again.

A buffer box is advantageous in remote polling environments where data is generally retrieved at scheduled times by the host processor. There is no need to have a direct connection from the telephone system to the computer. A buffer is less likely to be attacked from viruses, spyware or hackers. Most buffer boxes have a high level of security built in.

Resource Software International Ltd. (RSI) applications function with many buffer boxes (proprietary and open protocols). Our call accounting solutions connect to virtually all major manufacturer boxes including Western Telematic, Asentria/Omnitronix and Scannex. DataLink DL150

The Data-Link DL150 is a powerful remote site management device which can collect and forward text records such as those used by Call Accounting and Telemangement billing applications. These records are collected by the DL150 from PBX serial ports, and in some cases directly over a TCP/IP connection. The DL150 can also make a pass-through connection directly to devices connected on one of its serial ports, and can also connect you via web or telnet to other devices on the same remote network as the DL150. The DL150 provides versatile alarm management of text-based alarms plus environmental and contact closure alarms at your remote site. The DL150 is a powerful solution for Call Accounting systems, Service Bureaus, and end users who need to collect PBX data as well as get remote access, and collect alarms from equipment at your remote sites.

Scannex

RSI offers 3 different brands of the Scannex family of buffers:

MicroBuffer

The MicroBuffer is a compact, ultra-low power, RS232 buffer that automatically detects the pin out and communications format of the data source, eliminating the need for null modem cables and adapters and knowledge of baud rates or protocols. The MicroBuffer buffer box provides 1MB (12,500 records) of non-volatile flash storage. The MicroBuffer is line powered and requires no external power supplies. It can even get enough power from the serial port it is buffering.

ModemBuffer

The ModemBuffer provides a flexible and cost-effective solution for remote data collection over a telephone line using industry standard TCP/IP protocols. Collected data is buffered in a large 16MB (200,000 call records) flash memory. The ModemBuffer offers a wide range of data delivery options such as raw TCP/IP, email attachment, or via FTP. The ModemBuffer has a built in 33Kbps modem and auto pin and baud rate detection features.

NetBuffer

The NetBuffer provides a flexible and cost-effective solution for remote data collection across an intranet or the internet. Collected data is buffered in a large 16MB (200,000 records) flash memory. The NetBuffer offers a wide range of data delivery options such as raw TCP/IP, email attachment, or via FTP. The NetBuffer is capable of alerting the user of problems and also includes auto pin and baud rate detection features.
